Preventative
Here at Stone Arch Dental, we take a proactive approach to dentistry by preventing dental problems before they occur because preventative care is the foundation of exceptional oral health.
It is recommended to have a dental cleaning performed routinely to prevent plaque buildup. Plaque left untreated can lead to unhealthy gums and tooth decay.
Advantages of regular preventative treatment:
- Dentists can identify potential problems that patients are not yet able to see or feel
- Decay and gum disease can be prevented
We also provided Periodontics services to our patient that may need a little more than a standard cleaning.
Periodontal disease (gum disease) is caused by plaque buildup in your mouth and can cause gum inflammation (gingivitis) or a more severe infection causing bone loss around the tooth (periodontitis).
Symptoms of periodontal disease (gum disease) may include:
- Inflamed gums
- Bad breath
- Sensitive teeth
- Receding gums
- Loose teeth
Periodontal disease (gum disease) can also affect your overall health. Periodontal disease (gum disease) causes a buildup of bacteria in deep pockets between the teeth and gums. That bacteria can transfer to your bloodstream when gums bleed, putting you at a much higher risk to develop health problems such as stroke, respiratory disease, hearth disease, diabetes and much more.
Treatment of periodontal disease may include:
- Scaling and Root Planing (deep cleaning)
- Antibiotics to help control infection
- Periodontal surgery
- Bone or gum grafts
Here at Stone Arch Dental we provide periodontal scaling and root planing (deep cleaning) to our patients that need periodontal treatment.
